How to Use Visual Merchandising to Increase Retail Sales

By

Expert Author Romeo Cliff Richards
Why use Visual Merchandising?
Visual merchandising is shorthand for retail marketing. The most successful retailers are those who have been able to use the power of visual merchandising effective. Done correctly, visual merchandising makes the selling process easy. Done ineffectively visual merchandising can produce the opposite effect.
What is Visual Merchandising?
Merchandising display helps increase sales of products through an effective and sensible display of merchandise in a retail store. The aim is to basically influence buyer's behaviour. Visual merchandising commonly known in retail lingo as "the silent sales person" introduces the products to the customers. The aim of a visual display is three fold:
• Attract customer attention
• Entice the customer to enter the store
• Persuade them to buy
How to apply visual merchandising to increase retail sales:
To gain traction with merchandise displays products need to be separated according to category, for example if you sold shoes; they must be separated into their own sub-categories. Create a segment for every shoe either according to design or brand. This will make it easy for customers to locate and choose the items.
Jewellery displays need to be well lit in order to show and enhance the sparkle and glitter of the items. It also needs to be displayed in a glass case for the prospects to see it clearly. The use of a mannequin will emphasize the item and help prospects review the jewels.
Visual displays should correspond to your potential prospects' taste. It should give the prospect the opportunity to view and scrutinize each item and it should answer most questions the customer has without the need for assistance.
Steps to implement an effective display strategy to increase retail Sales:
Step 1- Strategically locate merchandise in certain areas of the store to attract customer's attention.
Step 2- Make your window displays colourful, attractive and creative enough to catch prospect's attention within seconds.
Step 3- Take into account the target customer and value of the merchandise when locating it within the store. Display high value items in prominent locations of the store to attract customers. Display low value and larger items in less prominent areas of the store.
Step 4- Place high value items such as jewellery and expensive watches inside secure cabinets and restrict access to customers via staff assistance.
Step 5- Remember the goal of the process must be focused on attracting customers, enticing them to enter the store and persuading them to buy.

The Psychology Behind Visual Merchandising

By Expert Author Romeo Cliff Richards
Why Apply Visual Merchandising?
There are times when products that were thought to be of high quality, that every market test and analysis concluded were going to be a hit with the market failed miserably. When that happens, there is a tendency to either blame the producer, the market research company or even the economy. However in many cases, it turns out that it is not just about the quality of the products; presentation of the product is also an essential component of the sales process.
Sales are dependent on good marketing. A huge part of retail marketing is visual merchandising. Those retail organizations that understand this concept are the most successful in the industry today. Retailers who fail to make the link between good visual merchandising displays and sales continue to struggle.
The most important element of visual merchandise displays is the psychology behind the process. People buy emotionally even though they justify their decision rationally. Consequently, it is imperative that the psychological aspect of visual merchandise display is given prime consideration in any retail organization.
What Is Visual Merchandising?
Visual merchandising displays are the presentation of products, packaging and pricing in a way that it appeals to a target market. It is a way of promoting the sale of products at a retail store incorporating the principles of: the right merchandise sold at the right place at the right season, at the right price, at the right time.
Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder however, we can influence shoppers behavior and predisposition to buy our products by the way in which it is displayed. It takes passion, creativity and dynamism to create an effective display that captivates the mind.
Merchandise displays must convey the goals, philosophy and brand of the retail organization. It also needs to tell a story that relates directly to the prospective buyer.
With so much merchandise available for consumers to choose from, every retailer must understand that the psychology of visual merchandise display is pertinent to them achieving their objectives of enticing the customers and persuading them to buy.
How to Implement an Effective Visual Display using psychology:
Below are steps to follow to create an effective visual merchandise display:
Step 1- Set a clear objective of the visual merchandise display. Is it for promotional purposes, or to create brand awareness?
Step 2- Identify your target audience: their age group, gender, profession etc. and create a display that appeals to that particular target audience.
Step 3- Make your display tell a story; the story of your brand and the products in your store.
Step 4- Ensure the display stand is accessible and never empty. The display must be neatly arranged however, it does not need to be so neat that the prospect feels that no one is buying it.
Step 5- There must be a balance between creativity and customer understanding of the display. If it is too designee it could end up confusing the prospect.
Step 6- The display must be refreshed frequently to give the feeling of newness to the look of the display. Ensure you use adjustable props that can be rearranged to look different.

A Coherent Brand Is Never Subjective

By
Part 1 Brand audit and research
Before a branding or rebranding project can begin it is essential to take stock of what assets you already have and gauge their appropriateness in positively positioning and differentiating your product or service. To do this questions need to be asked; questions about the relationship of the brand to the organisational vision, how it is coping with the competition, visibility and position in the market place, its fit with its strategy, internal understanding and more. A brand audit will assess the brand in relation to the business, the competition, the environment, its audiences and how it expresses itself visually.
For larger projects this may involve in-depth interviews with existing or potential customers, staff and other stakeholders, examination of the competitions' positioning and developing a full understanding of the relevant business issues. For smaller ones the information gathering may be selective towards more budget appropriate techniques.
Part 2 Brand strategy
The results of the brand audit will influence the brand strategy; its main part being a description of the brand in words. A kind of brand blueprint.
In short it articulates what the relationship is with an organisation's goals and its broader objectives with other business disciplines and provides a framework that supports the brand's relationship with its external audiences.
To some this may sound a little dry but it is actually a creative process that requires the right balance between imagination and business nouse.
Part 3 Brand design
The brand design part is the sexy bit of the process that requires less in the way of explanation. Once the audit and the strategy are agreed upon it is time to start by pulling together options on photography, illustration, language, typography, colours that are in line with the brand strategy. If appropriate, ideas around logos and/or naming will be considered. Demonstrating these on a handful of key applications crucial to your communications strategy will help you to see the elements working together and communicating your brand coherently.
Part 4 Delivery
Once the brand design part is agreed and finished its time to roll it out. This is the time to apply the brand elements to sharp, compelling and focussed communications through targeted channels to make your brand resonate coherently and effectively with your market. It is also the opportunity to have all of the above placed in a document to act as your brand reference tool.

The Components of a Brand Manual

By Expert Author Michael Baicoianu
Overview
This first section provides an overview of the document, explains the purpose of writing it and identifies its target audience. Usually written by the firm's top executive, the introductory message usually includes the story behind the brand and the benefits it brings to the customer.
Brand Vision, Mission, Objectives and Values
Every firm, should have these elements strictly defined and communicated. These elements help the firm create a more profound connection with its customers, and provide inspiration and focus to the internal personnel. The brand manual is the perfect place to have the vision, mission, objectives and values clearly mentioned.
Marketing Strategy
One of the most important sections of the document, this part summarizes the firm's competitive advantage, including the main differentiation points and supporting elements. It is particularly important for the internal personnel and external service providers to understand the uniqueness of the firm in the competitive environment so they can work towards sustaining that competitive advantage and properly communicating it.
Slogan
An integral part of the branding strategy, the tagline/slogan summarizes the brand positioning in a just a few words, and should be included in all the communication materials. The brand manual should address the do's and don'ts of using the slogan, such as typography, colour, spelling, punctuation marks, and location on the page and vis--vis the logo.
Brand Personality
People often describe brands as persons. Each has a distinctive "personality" that has to be crafted and consistently promoted in the marketing collateral. In order for a designer to create materials that facilitate an emotional connection between the brand and its audience he/she has to fully understand when human characteristics the brand should reflect. Multiple factors contribute to its personality: tradition, colours, fonts, imagery, and communication style, to name just a few. A comprehensive document provides insights on how the brand should "act".
Brand Name
One of the most powerful assets of any firm, the brand name should be correctly communicated and used. The guidelines should describe what the name symbolizes, the correct spelling, the fonts associated with the symbol, and the inclusion (or not) of the registration mark. Some companies go to greater details and even recommend generic names that can be associated with their brand name.
Symbols
The logo is the most distinctive and visible element of a brand's identity. It is also the symbol that's most frequently used by the internal personnel and external suppliers. As a result it is important for brand managers to implement strict guidelines regarding its usage, such as the Pantonecolour(s), background colours, alternative colour variations, minimum size requirements, and placement. Make sure you also list the elements that are not acceptable, such drop shadows, boxes, fonts and sizes.
Photography
In Marketing, photography is used to convey the brand personality in a simple and direct manner. Brand imagery also help position the brand in the mind of the consumer: Apple, for example, uses product key shots to highlight the elegant design and leading edge technology. In order for your marketing collateral to reflect a consistent theme, take time and write the specific attributes that photography should convey. This will make your collaboration with photographers, graphic designers and advertising agencies much easier. It will also makes choosing stock photography faster as many websites have implemented filters that allow you to get the results you want quickly.
Visual Identity
Colors become very often associated with brands. Think of the UPS brown or DeWalt yellow for example. A typical brand color system consists of primary colors (most frequently used) as well as secondary, and even tertiary ones (used for backgrounds, headings, subheadings, paragraph, bullet points etc). The guidelines should include a visual listing of the colors in each category (including the Pantone number), as well as details on the proper use of each color in the communication process.
Real-Life Examples
Any designer will appreciate real-life examples of how the brand elements are being used in communication materials (print, web, advertising) and public relation campaigns. The last pages of the document usually include screen shots of the website, catalogue covers, newspaper ads, PR announcements, signage, merchandising, and branded clothing. These real life examples really help with maintaining the brand consistency. Brand manuals differ from one company to another, and the suggestions above are by no means exhaustive. No matter how simple or complex, a brand guideline document is guaranteed to save marketers time and cause less headaches.

Amorality and Lawlessness, the Offspring of Atheism and Modern Science

By
According to the Webster Dictionary, amorality is defined as the quality or condition of not admitting to moral distinctions or judgments and not caring about right and wrong. Anyone in his right mind knows that this preposterous perception of reality is engendered from the womb of rank inanity and human folly. Even a cursory glance at nature's sprawling classroom quickly advises one that this flawed understanding of human society is born out of sheer human error, gross mental negligence, and stark irresponsibility; however, as one looks around today; he cannot help but notice that the global community is plainly a moral trashcan stuffed with lawlessness and confusion, and that amorality is the supreme God of the day. The ridiculous idea that morals do not matter screams at you from just about every corner in the world, whether it be an aristocratic Beverly Hills vicinage or a Johannesburg ghetto. The ubiquitous presence of amorality is a disturbing pattern in contemporary global society, and its origin needs to be circumspectly traced and exposed. Most people in the world are of the opinion that ethical issues are of paramount importance in the construction and development of human society; accordingly, the virtually universal presence of amoral human behavior and mayhem on the earth suggests that there is some abject, sneaky traitor in high places who has betrayed the human race. In this regard, it is utterly critical to identify, hunt down, and expose that shameless rogue who has caused so much suffering in the quaint museum of the human experience.
One of the reasons that so many problems often go unsolved is that human beings are myopic and insular in their perspective about things, and more often than not, fail to dot their I's an d cross their T's. Most problems today have a Western origin; as the West, due to its earlier Biblical association, practically ruled the whole world. World dominion was given to the West; accordingly, its influence and culture have left a footprint on virtually every country in the world; thus, in order understand the contemporary global issues of amorality, moral decline, and lawlessness; it is critical to reach back into the history of the Western world and analyze some of the forces that have powerfully influenced Western civilization. Of course virtually everyone knows that the West is the progeny of Greco-Roman civilization. All of its linguistic features and other cultural underpinnings are directly connected to the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome; and, for the most part, this association is positive. However, among the historical currents that have influenced Western civilization, the Christian religion and the Enlightenment Age have had the most impactful effect on the West; and it is this effect that explains virtually everything in the world today. These two diametrically opposite historical currents are the most titanic forces that have shaped modern civilization in the West; and, more generally, in the world as a whole.
Historians generally disagree about the exact span of time covered by the Enlightenment period, but most agree that its influence was strongest between 1650 and 1800. What they have ignored is the fact that this tenebrous, mystical period never really ended: It merely changed its emphasis and focus. It started in France and then spread to the rest of Europe, and eventually to the rest of the world; however, as far as historians are concerned, the Enlightenment period ended at the start of the nineteenth century. The essence of this intriguing period of time was its emphasis on understanding, and solving society's problems through knowledge acquisition, focus on reason through dialogue, and comprehending the secrets of the universe. They observed and applauded the phenomenal advances in science inspired by the work of Isaac New and other brilliant scientists of his day. They reasoned that with the rapid advances in scientific knowledge and a reason-driven approach to solving society's ills; they would be able to understand the secrets of the universe, thus enabling them to abolish all societal problems. The vanguards who spearheaded this intellectual movement referred to themselves as philosophes (men of wisdom and great knowledge. ) These men were drawn mainly form the aristocratic and middle-class pool of European society; they were an elite group of intellectuals who saw themselves as the virtual saviors of mankind. They were journalists, editors, attorneys, professors, writers, scientists, and a host of other academicians. What was conspicuously absent in these secularists' views and vision for human society was the presence of a Holy God of love-they vehemently loathed that idea. Their message and sermon to European society was very simply: God does not exist.
Around this same time; Charles Darwin, an impassioned seminary student preparing for the ministry; experienced a sad, unfortunate incident in his life: His daughter fell sick and mysteriously died. He was furious with God: "How could God allow this to happen to me?" he reasoned. As a result of this tragic incident, Darwin turned against God and became a philosophe; eclipsing Sir Isaac Newton, who was now preaching the gospel and trying to locate hell with the use of scientific tools. Naturally, the philosophes distanced themselves from Newton and embraced Charles Darwin; the new, dashing star scientist on the block. Darwin's Origin of Species furnished great fodder for the philosophes and steered society further and further away from God. The Christian worldview was eclipsed and dwarfed by these fresh, pert ideas and washed away in a brawling avalanche of atheism and societal folly. Darwin's atheistic ideas of survival for the fittest and evolution were a sumptuously prepared meal for Europe's jaunty philosophes: They ate it up like hot cakes. Unhappily, these novel, dashing ideas turned human society away from God; replacing him with the wild, mechanistic swings of unpredictable weather changes and strokes of luck and chance. Thus, man's survival depended on intrinsic elements within man himself and the weather. More specifically, per Darwin; all the complex biological machines that are visible on the earth today evolved from a simple, one-celled organism in some primordial pond billions of years ago. According to Darwin; an orderly evolution system ensued, where this simple one-celled organism evolved over billions of years and through millions of biological transitions, that produced the complex tapestry of life that one sees on the earth today. Darwin is not specific about the mechanism that triggered these complicated biological transitions which he advances in his theory of evolution.
To this date, no evidence of transitional forms has been unearthed by the many diligent teams of archaeologists working virtually around the clock on the earth. The transitional forms' eerie absence from the fossil records casts Darwin's theory in a bad light. Additionally, the newer and more sophisticated modern electronic microscopes have uncovered an astronomical amount of fresh information that was not available in Darwin's day; and, as it turns out, the cell is much more complex than Darwin knew at the time of his research, with several trillion biochemical reactions per minute. All this information would have blown Darwin away, had he been privy to it; furthermore, scientific conclusions cannot be reached without analysis of concrete, observable data. Darwin's theory of evolution greatly underestimates the mind-boggling complexity of the cell around which he initiated his theory of evolution; additionally, he has no consistent, concrete evidence from the fossil records of transitional forms to substantiate his theory of evolution. To the contrary, Cambrian explosion fossils; showing fully developed biological systems at a time that is completely contrary to Darwin's evolutionary clock, suggest that evolution itself is a farce. The cruel prank of evolution and big bang theories is demonstrated by the fact that these naturalistic theories have a common thread of unavailable, concretely visible, hard, raw data and evidence. Moreover, because of their purely speculative nature; they are of very little value to the noble showroom of science; in fact, they have done more damage to objective, unbiased scientific analysis than anything else in the archives of scientific enquiry. Based on this analytical review of the way modern scientists have gone about to establish truth about nature's operation, it is not a stretch of the imagination to, at least, examine the validity of the whole foundation of modern science. In essence, modern science issues from subjective, ideological notions which cannot be proved; thus rendering it the science of faith and a powerful worldwide religious establishment. The exponents of modern science firmly believe in the Darwinian spin of things, even though they have no concrete evidence to support their evolutionary point of view. In this regard, modern science has evolved into a sprawling religion that now covers the entire earth, and it has done so without virtually anyone recognizing what has been going on.
Now, what does all of this have to do with the Enlightenment period's philosophes and how were they involved in the fraud of modern science as established by the flawed, speculative Darwinian theory of evolution? At this juncture, it is quite important to note that the philosophes had a strong raltionalistic focus: It was the centerpiece of their argument and sermon to society; however, as the lies of the Enlightenment period became more and more evident through the blunt savagery of French Revolution and, later on, the American Civil War; these dashing erudites switched their focus and emphasis. As their movement came under greater and greater scrutiny by the microscopes of reason and truth in Europe, in particular, after the barbarity of the French Revolution; the philosophes began to feel threatened by the idea of reason, so they quietly began to step away from the whole notion of reason and to focus more on propaganda, brainwashing, and dogmatism. After the grisly episodes of the French Revolution, the philosophes felt that they had lost face in the eyes of Europe's aristocracy, so they withdrew their forces from doing direct combat in the public arena of society and quietly began working behind the scenes as scientists and secret society operatives. In the process, they moved all the way to the other side of the ideological spectrum. And this is the reason that modern science adopted such an irrational, procrustean, fraud-driven approach to the analysis of nature; but again, their message was he same-atheism and amorality. These philosophes have never placed morality high on their order of doing business. The bulk of the social architects who inspired the French Revolution were philosophes. They were ruthless, barbaric, secret society operatives; keenly interested in understanding and tinkering with the secrets of the universe through the force of occult practice, science, and now irrationality.
Their migration to the area of modern science gave them a powerful, societal pulpit from which to work behind the scenes and influence the destiny of mankind, turning his mind entirely away from any umbrage of God whatsoever. These tarnished, villainous scientists maintained that religion and science were (and still are) mutually exclusive because no one could prove God's existence. On the surface this reasoning appears to be a logical one; but when one looks closer at what these scientists are doing, it all falls apart. They slide a hand and act as if no one is watching what they are doing. Their evolution and big bang theories are riddled with gaps, missing links, and inconsistencies; yet they vigorously push and defend them as if they were natural laws. To the contrary, the presence of the God whom they say you cannot prove is saliently noticeable just about everywhere in nature. For one thing, the empty tomb of Jesus is about as big a slam dunk as it gets. Unassailable evidence exists that the Roman centurions were guarding Jesus's body at the time of his resurrection. The centurions themselves reported the story to the chief priests, apprizing them of this miraculous, supernaturally inspired even! The chief priests paid the Roman centurions large sums of money to lie, saying that someone came by night and stole the body of Jesus Christ. This is the reason that this philosophical scientist knows that earthly life is a lie-here, the chief priests themselves lied because they were envious of Jesus' power. In the first place, no one was that careless with his life to risk standing up to Roman centurion might: That was absolutely unheard of in that day. Based on the raw facts in the case, the only reasonable conclusion about Jesus' missing body was that he was resurrected from the dead, just as he said he would-and the empty tomb is scientifically documentable evidence that the supernatural event of Jesus' resurrection actually transpired right in the cosmic museum of the human experience. Additionally, Jesus' disciples and hundreds of other eye witnesses saw him in physical flesh and bones. Where is the evidence for evolution and big bang theories? There isn't any: All they are presenting is pure speculation, surmise, and conjecture-that is just about all they have. Christianity has a clearly defined, easily located empty tomb. That, my friend, is real science. The evidence is there-right there for the whole world to see.
In the light of all the facts that have been presented in this case, amorality has its origin in the Enlightenment period and its philosophes' disturbing, occultic practices; their staunch atheistic beliefs; and their shadowy, behind the scenes maneuverings in science laboratories and classrooms. In this regard, it is not hard to see that modern science is a traitor of truth and a false religion; crystallized and assembled by die-hard atheists bent on shoving their evil, demonic agenda and false religion down the throat of an unsuspecting world. And forasmuch as modern science is atheistic, it spurns and loathes the very idea of morals. Based on the Satanic Bible, modern science adopts an amoral stance; pushing alternative lifestyles, political correctness, moral relativism, and tolerance. And today, tolerance is used as a cover for all kinds of disgusting, degrading, disgraceful behaviors that spit in the face of moral decency; but alas, isn't that the way lies work! These vulpine, atheistic scientists have brainwashed and deceived the whole world about the applicability and relevance of the Bible in scientific matters and flooded classrooms with naturalism and atheism. Because Western society has followed modern science's philosophes' glib, spurious ideas and false, sophistic line of reasoning; it has literally abolished the Bible, morality, and well balanced thought from the public square of intelligent discourse; citing separation of church and state. But in case many haven't noticed, Western society and the rest of the world are awash in tears, distress, pain, sorrow, and trouble of all kinds. Lost in the churning smoke of modern science and its vulpine machine of lies, subterfuge, and intrigue; the world is mired in a maze confusion and insuperable obstacles. Although it is only tacitly implied, the prevailing philosophy today is that morality is irrelevant and does not really matter. This fundamental idea has grown into a tall tree from the dark, eerie forest of modern science-the prevailing pagan worldview of amorality emanated from that source.
Modern science is a lie; It frowns upon all the naked truths of order and design splattered virtually everywhere in nature. Its uncanny association with atheism and blunt refusal to investigate the forces behind the virtually ubiquitous presence of religious institutions in the world betrays the fact that it is diametrically opposed to the tame idea of God as the sculptor of the universe. Modern science is inextricably tied to the dark, disturbing forces poignantly described in the satanic bible. Its plain lack of transparency is palpably visible in its slick effort to purposely veil the truth through its bogus focus on big bang and evolution theories' billions of years which cannot be objectively analyzed by standard methods of scientific inquiry. The same is true of modern science's strong emphasis on mathematical quantification. Again, the patent purpose of all this sophisticated mathematical analysis is to deceive the unsuspecting public about its real objectives. The truth is not there, so a screen of some kind has to be used to cover up the lies that the public would otherwise see. Working from behind the scenes, these amoralists have overturned the ship of natural order and literally wrecked the whole world!
This writer's goal is to spill light on the rampant decline of morality in the world and the attendant forces that have fostered the jarring moral collapse that one sees on the earth today. The absurd greed level exhibited by the world's billionaires reflects a cavalier attitude of insouciance, uncompassion, ill-will, and downright disgust for the poor. This flagrant disgust and indifference for the world's less fortunate have engendered two different types of dangerous reactions in the world: (1) It has formented much anger and frustration among the world's unemployed, educated class, which formerly belonged to a clearly defined middle class that has been rapidly disapp0earing.
(2) It has spawned a growing, disturbing gang of criminals worldwide. The nerve-wracking, brazen deeds of the reckless anarchists; who highjack sprawling, multibillion-dollar oil tankers and ask for ransoms in excess of twenty million dollars; is beyond the reach of any civilized society's wildest imagination! Profanity, once forbidden speech, now gushes from the sewer of pop culture's music and many public schools' classrooms. The dramatic of amorality rise and concomitant decline of morals in the world are frightening. As the world plunges into the yawning mouth of doom, with teeth as sharp as spears; it must thank modern science with its atheistic, amoralistic disposition for the courtesy. The world's clandestine institutions; inordinately powerful billionaires; and slick, lupine modern scientists have created a world rushing in headlong into the chasm of ruin. Scientists, who have taught your children evolution, have also taught them that right and wrong do not matter. Listen: Whatever you do, consult and stay tune with http://crashingstreamsofchange.com will you! You will be able to see just behind the bend of this seemingly endless recession, teeth-gnashing unemployment, tongue-gnawing poverty, and boiling Wall Street Movement!

The Basics Of Retail Signage

By

If you are running a business a store or a restaurant, then you need to have the perfect sign for it.
You have to make sure that your sign is designed and crafted to accent the selling points of your outlet,
with the dual promise of quality and professionalism to your customers and passers-by.
A sign is a very effective medium of visual merchandising for retail stores. The sign of your business has to stand apart, whether it is traditional or contemporary. When you hire a professional to create signs for your business, then consider the type of material and method used to create the sign.
The basic idea is that the sign should suit the business as well as the place it self. This can be better understood with an example - an engraved sign looks good, but will not be noticed in a large building with many signs. A neon sign looks good for a small hotel or a nightclub to attract potential customers at night time, but it may be unfit for other retailers in a shopping centre. In other words, a sign chosen by a retailer or an enterprise must be in tandem with - the nature of business, the goals, the location and the target audience. The sign must support the purpose and the principles of a business, only then will it seem credible enough to the customers and they will be convinced to explore the products/services offered.
Another important tip for retailers is to make sure that their signs do not highlight the prices. If you have a long standing discount then it is OK to have a price focused sign. In other cases, a price sign will need to be replaced as soon as the offer expires or even the prices change. Similarly, making a sign on an offer you are running, has to be more of a temporary sign, like a stand alone sign or a banner. For temporary or seasonal advertising, a banner is the best choice. PVC banners are the most popular as they are non-flammable and UV retardant.
With a sign, your main purpose is to increase foot traffic. Now you can use open signs, window signs or outdoor signs, so that the people passing by are attracted to your offer/name/service and step inside. You have to evoke curiosity in your customers. And then you have to force them to take the action that you want. Do you want them to eat at your restaurant? Do you want them to make a purchase? Whatever your business goal is, you have to create an impression of urgency with your sign. This is essential for the customer to 'eat here' or to 'buy now'.
Also, make sure that your sign has the right font, colours and the clarity that will make a passerby stop and read or at least get attracted to read. You must think of the sign of your retail store as silent, sales representatives that are convincing customers to come in and make a purchase. Acting like salesmen, when telling them what all is on sale, and what are the new releases and incentives being offered.
That is why, when it comes to a retail store sign, a club sign or a restaurant sign you need to keep the business motto in focus when designing or ordering one.

The in-store design Today!

In-store Communication

One of the greatest revolutions the retail world has seen in recent years has taken place inside the commercial space. From the technically-minded science of shopping to the sheer experience of consumption championed by creative branding types, the great battle of consumption is being waged at the point of sale. We should not forget that today more than half of all shopping decisions are made inside the commercial formats most commonly used by consumer, such as shops, supermarkets, department stores and duty-frees. However, the reasoning behind traditional marketing strategies no longer convinces shoppers who, faced with the ever-growing similarity between competing products, display increasingly less brand loyalty and tend to devote less time shopping.
This situation has promted designers of commercial spaces to step up their efforts in two opposite yet complemantary ways when tackling a shop design project: refin ing the technical aspects while heightening the excitement factor. Improving the technical aspects of a point of sale has been an issue from the very beginning-even more so now with the mechanization of supermarkets-the main goal being functionality, valuing factors such as the store layout, customer walkways and the optimal location for different products on the selves or in storage areas. Here graphic interventions use to be nothing more than simple signage, indicating variables such as price, product or location.
While it may be difficult to poinpoint exactly when emotional factors began to play an important role in the commercial space, it is clear that they became a significant variable from the moment that buyers first began to see consumption as something related to leisure instead of necessity. It is precisely this view of consumption that has enabled the retail project to be understood as a tool for generating emotion based strongly on image, an arena in which graphic interventions are fundamental and increasingly popular.
Today, the graphics program within the commercial space is not limited to mere signage:; it has evolved into a powerful communication tool for product features, the qualities of a given brand and the class of business establishment in which it is sold. A contemporary strategy of shop design combines the constructive feasibility of interior design, the commercial evaluation of merchandising and the ambience of the image strategy where graphic interventions play an essential role.

Some Thoughts on Christmas Time

By

Expert Author Angus McIntosh
Christmas is forced upon a reluctant and disgusted nation by the shopkeepers and the press; on its own merits it would wither and shrivel in the fiery breath of universal hatred. ~ G B Shaw
Merry Christmas my butt. Already my email inbox is filling up with 'Defend Christmas' and 'Keep Christ in Christmas' propaganda. And Lord knows my television can't seem to keep itself from imploring me to buy stuff to celebrate the 'holiday'. So you know a rant is coming...
Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here not to praise or damn Christmas, but to reclaim it with hard cold facts. I'm going to provide you with a quick history, illuminate the ways the squirrels have messed it up almost beyond redemption, and show you how to truly celebrate this ancient festival of passion and light.
THE ORIGINS AND GROWTH: A few of thousand years ago people became aware of the cyclical nature of the seasons. In the northern hemisphere this meant that the sun, that all important provider of heat and light and grower of food, spent less time in the sky throughout the fall. In late December (on our calendar) that process reversed itself and the days got longer. That meant spring was coming again. Could there be a better reason for a wild party? So most every culture celebrated with a combination of imploring the local gods, thanking the sun itself, a feeling of tremendous relief, and good old fashioned orgy of drunkenness, gluttony, and sex. Makes sense. Throughout the fall it's getting colder and darker and we carefully prepare for the worst. When the sun turns back around we can relax and let out all that anxiety. And fertility always means sex. Good times.
In the 4th century the Roman Emperor converted to Christianity. He also converted most of the Roman empire. Not everyone was thrilled with this idea and they needed a little convincing. As part of the negotiation he promised them that they could keep their largest pagan festival, The Saturnalia. He declared the date of birth for Jesus to be December 25th, not because he was actually born on that date but because that was the birth date of the Mithras, a version of the Greek sun god Helios. His birth was also witnessed by three shepherds under a north star. In fact much of the modern story of Jesus' birth may have been 'borrowed' from Mithraism. The Mithra birthday party was the height of the 12 day Saturnalia celebration which included gift giving, drunken debauchery, feasting, and repeating 'Ho Saturn' three times upon meeting friends. This last custom was eventually shortened to 'ho ho ho'. Sound familiar?
Over the next thousand years Christianity spread throughout Europe. And since the tactic of pagan party adoption had worked so well, they kept at it. The druids brought evergreens into the house around the solstice to represent the re-greening of the fields. Germans and others hung apples and other ornaments on trees for the same reason. The Norse burned a Yule Log. Southern Italians forced minorities to run naked from house to house singing songs. Many cultures had a father or prankster figure that brought gifts. In short, Christmas became a cultural vacuum cleaner for everyone's solstice celebrations.
HOW DID WE GET HERE: What we consider to be a 'traditional Christmas' is actually pretty modern and, like every culture before us, it represents our current god, the Great and Almighty Commerce. The current incarnation of Santa Claus found everywhere is based on the work of an illustrator named Haddon Sundblom who worked for a very popular soda company. The bright red and white were representative of their corporate colors. Card companies and department stores have long used the holiday to bring out the shoppers. Almost every modern Christmas ritual was either designed by or promoted by a retail company. Just like the Christians before them they've adopted the ancient festivals for their own purpose of conversion. By celebrating modern Christmas you are celebrating the greatest god of our time Consumerism.
CHRISTMAS AND CHRISTIANITY: One of the ironic things here is that Christians have been complaining about losing their stolen holiday for hundreds of years. Early American Christian churches knew their history better than the current crop does and tried repeatedly to outlaw the holiday. In fact the puritans succeeded in making Christmas celebrations illegal in New England for awhile. English newspapers were complaining about the over commercialism of the holiday as early as the mid 1700s. The central conflict between Christian joy repression and solstice time revelry has always provided a tense background for the holiday.
The modern 'War on Christmas' crap isn't new. The Christians just keep changing sides. Christmas was actually never a truly Christian holiday and it isn't a Christian holiday now; it's a commercial one. Of course you can choose to worship a dead Jewish carpenter's son during the celebration if you'd like. But it's RIDICULOUS and WRONG to insist that it defines the holiday.
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES: So what is a modern, relatively aware, non-Christian to do? What if you don't want to worship at the altar of Macy's? What if you think Consumerism and Commercialism and Jesus are all false Gods? Well, for the last few years I've tried to ignore Christmas and, much to my surprise, it didn't go away. So this year I'm going back to it's roots. An orgy of wine, gluttony, and sex. Light and nature and fun. Sure, a Christmas tree. Why not. Candles, friends, and laughter. No gifts, no Jesus, no forced somber moods. The sun is returning and I'll welcome it back with open arms. And then I'm going to LA for two days followed by 5 more in Vegas. A true old fashioned, traditional Bacchanalia. Chasing around pretty girls while I'm fueled by rum, cigars and big thick steaks. Ho ho ho indeed. MERRY CHRISTMAS. Vaya con Dios and Viva la Revolucion.

Rp 1.000 Segera Berganti Menjadi Rp 1

Herdaru Purnomo - detikFinance

Layar True-3D Menggunakan Teknologi Plasma Laser

How To Properly Man an Exhibition Stand

By

Expert Author Will Leighton
Arguably the most taxing job in setting up your own exhibition is to actually be there and man it. Manning your exhibition stand means one has to be there and become an ambassador for your company, product or business. There are many things that you should consider when hiring a manning staff or choosing your own, so we put the most essential here to get the job done right
When you are in the process of selecting the staff, you have to keep in mind that they should be able to show that your company holds a positive image that will benefit the visitors. The most basic things you want to observe from a potential staff member are looks, knowledge, work ethic and the ability for the staff member to easily talk to and relate to other people - strangers at that. While your exhibition stand contractors are probably busy with putting up the different exhibition stand designs, banners, lights and more, you should also be considering (or hire someone if this isn't your thing) the clothes or uniforms your ambassadors should be wearing. While they should be presentable, they should also be comfortable, as manning an exhibition stand will take long hours. Speaking of stand, you have to make them wear comfortable shoes too. Make your staff look professional while, at the same time, eye-catching. Try to have a uniform that's associated with the theme of your stand. This will make them easily identifiable when they veer away from your exhibit.
Of course, your staff should also have knowledge of the goods and services you'd be presenting. This includes all prices, promos and special offers, if any. Many of the potential clients and customers in these trade shows often ask a lot of questions. Plus, because of the magnitude of the show, not all of them would be interested to stay in one booth for too long. That's why you should make sure that your exhibitors know your products by heart.
To keep them interested, prepare brochures or other reading materials that will be available for pick up, or at least have your exhibition stand contractors or designers help you with providing this if they offer such a service. Sometimes, other people are just there to walk around and see nothing in particular. Giving them something to read will at least poke their interest after they've gone through the show.
Another very important aspect of manning an exhibition is the ability of you and your exhibition staff to communicate well with huge crowds and talking to different kinds of people. Make sure that your staff are confident enough but not too invasive. In these sorts of shows, it may be more advantageous to train an already great communicator of your product rather than sending a specialist who won't talk at all.
Finally, you want to make sure that you only put an adequate amount of staff into your exhibition stand at a certain amount of time. Too many will make your stand too intimidating, while too few will make it look dull and uninteresting. There should also be a space in your exhibit where you can place your items/products there without becoming distracting. All these tips will help ensure that your exhibition and staff will be well met with success.

4.Pergunakanlah bahasa yg sederhana & ringkas.

6.Surat lamaran kerja berbahasa Indonesia.
Sebaiknya pergunakan bahasa Indonesia saja.
