Opening and running a retail business is more complicated than just buying or renting a space and opening for business. There is competition and the whim of the public to consider. there is also the proper display of merchandise and the safety of the shoppers who come. well designed businesses attract more customers and sell more of their goods. they also stay in business longer and make better profits. Taking the time and making the investment in a good architect or Interior designer is just good business.
Some things that must be considered in planning a retail business are location, store front design, traffic flow inside the business, customer safety, color scheme, ambiance, decor style, ease of maintenance and customer convenience. Location of different departments and display cases can make a big difference in the success or failure of a business. A professional store designer can put together floor plans that will work for each kind of business that take safety and traffic flow into consideration. Most businesses have one chance to impress the buying public. Waste that chance with bad ambiance or poor store design and the business will fail.
The first consideration, after location choice, is matching the design and decor to the product to be sold. A gourmet restaurant needs a different decor than a coffee shop or fast food place. A sea food restaurant needs different decor than an Irish pub and so on. The decor needs to match the product sold to be most effective. Most customers will be expecting certain decor for the product they are shopping for. An intimate apparel and lingerie shop will have a more feminine feel than a men's sportswear shop. An Interior Designer or an architect specializing in retail design can suggest decor and merchandise arrangement that will help customers shop with ease and purchase more.
Once the business has a design that matches the merchandise, it is important to pick a decor theme within that design. This theme can be ultra contemporary, European, glam or traditional and everything in between. this theme can be in different colors. It is important to pick a color scheme that is pleasing to customers and encourages them to buy. There are studies that show certain colors in restaurants work better than others to encourage customers to eat and drink more. The colors of walls, flooring and store furnishings should all go pleasantly together making customers comfortable and in a mood to buy more.
All the decor items in a business should be easy to maintain and safe for clientele. flooring choices should be considered with safety in mind. No one wants customers slipping and hurting themselves on a too shinny flooring. The floor plans should group related items together for customer convenience. Check out lanes should be conveniently located and manned. A well designed and implemented store will sell more merchandise.

Suppose you are out for shopping and you find a place where all the products are closely kept inside a cupboard through which you cannot make out what inside. How interested would you be in checking out the items in that shop, and would you want to spend a lot of time there? Not at all. You would want to enter a shop and browse the products there only if you get to see those products as soon as you enter. In other words, when it comes to retail business, display of the products matters as much as its quality and quantity, and display stands are the perfect solution for this.
If you have a retail business of a product, any product such as clothes, jewellery, shoes, bags, electronic items, magazines or even grocery items, the way you display them in your shop plays an important role in their sale as well. Display stands help you in placing your products in such a way that they are seen by all customers even from far and outside the store. Not only do they help you in lining up your products before your customers but also in arranging them systematically so that they are easily found.
Display stands are of different types, colours and sizes suitable for different products. As you are aware, different products have to be displayed in a suitable way so that their positive sides are highlighted. And today you will find different types of stands in the market that can attract visitors to your store. The trick is to know which type of stand would be matching a particular product. For example, in the case of jewellery you need a stand that has a glass enclosure so that the product is safe and at the same time visible to the customers. In the case of mobile phones you need display stands that can support the product in the way its features are enhanced.
Display stands become useful not only in displaying products in retail business but also leaflets and brochures of a company and its services. By installing them at the reception area in your office where your clients or customers arrive, you could impart relevant and interesting information related to your business and thus create brand awareness. Display stands can be used for the same purpose for exhibitions and presentations as well.
Today you'll find different providers of display stands that would support any kind of product with the necessary accompaniments like bright lights that can illuminate the products for the buyers. In fact, there are even providers who could customise display stands for you so that your product is displayed before your customers in the best way possible, luring them to purchase immediately.

VIVAnews - Megaproyek 300 pulau buatan di Dubai, The World Island, senilai US$14 miliar atau sekitar Rp125,8 triliun membuat dunia tercengang.

Setiap pulau berukuran mulai 23,000 m persegi hingga 84,000 m persegi. Setiap pulau memiliki jarak dengan air sekitar 50–100 m antara setiap pulau. Pembangunan ini akan meliputi area seluas 9 km panjang dan 6 km lebar. Setiap pulau dikelilingi oleh pemecah gelombang oval.

Beberapa selebritis dilaporkan membeli pulau di 'The World'.

Pengembang 'The world' adalah anak perusahaan Dubai World.

The retail sector has grown incredibly as the American middle class has grown over the last 6-decades. It has surpassed almost every other sector of our economy with the exception of services for employment. Of course, often there is also a blurred line the between retail and service sector, after all without customer service or bundling strategies it's very hard for retailers to stay in business or grow.
Having been in the carwash sector over the years and watching the various simple strategies to improve retail sales, and having founded a franchising company I've decided that I ought to be sharing my insight, experiences, observations, and strategies with all of you. Perhaps, why I've set out on a mission to write articles such as this on the retail sector, you see, today, Brick and Mortars are pitted against online web sales, and some wise retailing companies are harnessing the power of the web and creating synergistic strategies - some are paying off, others were ahead of their time and flopped miserably.
Having the right mix and agility to adapt quickly may just determine which brick and mortars survive and which fail to perform or remain viable in the future. We are indeed witnessing this reality now, and it's no secret, one only has to read the financial news or retail industry trade journals to see what's occurring.
Okay so, you are probably wondering to whom I want to reach with this article? Well it is for new start-up retailers, small mom and pop businesses, online retailers, business students, and large retail executives who are still trying to hone their strategies. My main point is that perhaps more retailing executives need to stop looking back and start looking forward, to stop copying the industry leaders, and carve out a niche which includes both sides of the game, the virtual space as well as the real estate retail locations.
No, it's not going to be easy, and small start-ups can often come in and rock your world, but it's time to stop complaining and crying over "Who Stole My Cheese" and acting like a big bear running around screaming with a thorn through its paw. This is the real world, and the forest is a tough environment, and it's a jungle out there. The game has changed in 2012, and you are either the snow plow or the road kill, it's time to choose, or you will by default lose. Please consider all this and think on it.

Imagine sitting down in your design studio for an hour or so. Your mind is blank and you just cannot seem to think of anything to get started to work on your art piece.
The first step for an artist is inspiration. By simply seeing someone's work and being fascinated by it could be the beginning of your master art piece. There are only two ways to go about in such a situation: Either positive or negative thinking. People who are positive will actually allow themselves to figure out new ideas and expand their mindset. Those who think negative will just restrict themselves from generating ideas and believe they can never do the impossible.
Many artists face problems of getting ideas. Nobody can generate ideas instantly the moment they want to. So does this mean we just have to surrender to that thought and just wait for the "right time" for inspiration?
Well, I would say the answer is yes and no. However, one thing you can be sure of is that there are definitely measures you can take to help your idea generation.
A good exercise that you can do is to keep a record of every piece of art that inspires you and also all the ideas you came up with when brainstorming. Who knows? That ridiculous idea you thought of just a few days might just be the key to completing your art piece. Having such a file in your possession can help you to organize your ideas as well as linking them back to its roots(the things that influenced you to think of such ideas)
Another exercise is to communicate with other artists. Make friends whom you can discuss ideas about art everyday. For example you can discuss with them how they got the idea for a particular art piece which they have done. Discuss in details! Ask them what exactly inspired them, what struck them at the moment and what exactly prompted them to think of such ideas
The last exercise i am going to mention is to use ideas to generate more ideas. Yes I know this might sound complex to you! Put it simply this means to let your ideas flow.
Every piece of work of a true artist is alive because the artist is able to portray his imagination fully into his works. Therefore only those who truly appreciate art can decipher the meaning of an artist's work.

The History of Japanese Anime

In 1854, with the opening of Japan to foreign trade, the technologies developed in the West were introduced to and quickly adopted by many in Japan. That ushers in the era of Japanese animation in 1914 with the earliest anime being first screened in 1917 with a two minute clip of a folk tale and comedy about a samurai warrior.
By the 1930s, the anime industry has gained a significant amount of interest in Japan. Unfortunately, the local Japanese animators had to deal with a lot of competition, both from foreign and local animators. As a result, Japanese animators were forced to work cheaply and therefore, they opted for the animation technique called cutout animation, instead of the more expensive cel animation. However, with cutout animation, Japanese animators such as Yasuji Murata were still able to create wonders. Later on, animators such as Masaoka and Mitsuyo Seo improved the Japanese animation industry, among others, by using cel animation and by introducing sound.
In 1933, Masaoka has produced the first talkie anime called "Chikara to Onna no Yo no Naka". This was succeeded in 1945 by Seo's direction of "Momotaro's Devine Sea Warriors", which was the first anime film with feature length. The achievement of these Japanese animators was even more commendable because it was difficult to survive commercially. They also had to rely heavily on the support of government, which entails an obligation to include educational and militaristic propaganda. Besides, Japanese animation was greatly influenced by the success of the 1937 feature film by the Walt Disney Company, called "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". For instance, Osamu Tezuka started to mimic American style cartoons to reduce costs and limit the number of frames in production and with that created the popular graphic novel known as "Shintakarajima" in 1947.
In the 1970s, the Japanese film market shrunk due to the increased competition from television which eventually led to the bankruptcy of Mushi Productions. However, the work of Osamu Tezuka was able to survive this competition. In fact, his work was so impressive that he was often credited as the "god of manga". His distinctive "large eyes" style in animation still remains as one of the fundamental elements of anime today. During this difficult era, a genre known as Mecha has also been introduced whose animation films include "Mazinger Z" (1972-74), "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972-74), "Space Battleship Yamato" (1974-75) and "Mobile Suit Gundam" (1979-80).
Other notable milestones for the Japanese animation industry include the release of "Akira" in the 1980s that has found huge success in both the Japanese and foreign market, and the boom in production in the 1990s due to the release of "Ghost in the Shell". Furthermore, in 2008, Doraemon has been officially appointed as the first Anime Ambassador by Japanese government in order to promote anime worldwide. All these led to the success of the animation industry of Japan that we know today.

Mistakes That a Logo Designer Should Avoid

A company logo when designed effectively can facilitate the process of branding, to a great extent; but when the same logo design prove to be a mess, it hampers the entire image of the brand. Hence, the process of logo-designing holds a lot of significance, as a designer must keep in mind various aspects which should be considered, and several mistakes which should be avoided to create a successful logo. Often, amateurs treat the process of designing a logo as a small deal which requires just creativity and originality.
However, coming up with a holistically effective logo requires much more than just that. There are a lot of intricacies which should be considered while brainstorming about the most apt and relevant symbol, to be used as a logo. A successful company logo draws the customers towards the brand with the effect of its attraction and the connection it builds with them. As the customers develop a liking for the particular company logo which communicates the core belief of the company, the customers gain confidence to rely on its products or services.
Hence, it needs observation, creativity, experience and analytical skills to design a competent logo; and of course it requires the designer to stay away from the commonest mistakes. First and the foremost, the designer should stay away from creating a logo with a complicated message, which fails to relate with the target market. When the logo fails to convey the right message of the brand or the company, it tends to fail in gaining customers' confidence and trust in the company. The next mistake which a company may make is to select a logo for their brand from stock-images which are far from being original and are used by others as well.
This happens when a company fails to afford a graphic designer and tries to get a logo without any effort, thought or resource. A duplicate logo taken from clip-arts can hugely damage the brand name of the company and can adversely affect the company's popularity and profit in the industry. The message also goes out to those designers who try to save time and effort by getting designing ideas from already existing logos and stock-images.
The next mistake, that a designer should avoid is the usage of inapt colors, fonts, graphics, patterns and size which may disrupt the entire meaning and message of the brand and would end up representing a mismatched symbol. Last but not the least, a logo designer should keep away from following a designing trend blindly, and should use and apply his/her individual creativity and thoughts to come up with unique, simple and expressive design ideas which would click with the consumers quickly.
Christina Benson is an online web content writer who writes on diverse topics. Recently she has picked up interest in logo design process and how a variety of logos help in shaping the business images and brands of several companies.

How Come President Obama Can Misrepresent in the State of the Union?

As with anything, the facts will set you free, and the poppycock will pile higher and higher until you are smothered in it. Now then, today, I'd like to discuss the State of the Onion, yes, Union, but to me it's all been a really bad joke, so I use Onion in this case, and refer to the speech as more like comedy or charades if you will. Okay so, let's talk shall we?
There was an interesting article on the ABC News website on January 25, 2012 titled; " Fact or Fiction Number 1 - The Booming Economy: Obama's Jobs Story," by Huma Khan, Elizabeth Hartfield, Matt Negrin, Chris Good, Amy Bingham, Jeunee Simon, Greg Krieg, Meg Fowler and Sarah Parnass report: "Did the economy crater before President Obama's inauguration, then rebound once his policies took effect?" The article stated:
"It seems unlikely that the president would utter inaccurate jobs numbers during his State of the Union address, but while we wait for official White House citation, the president made at least one claim that for now looks iffy. The transcript: states."
Now then, this article caught my eye as it was being discussed on the CFO Magazine blog and website as well. Consider if you will that you are a large corporation which makes a "forward looking statement" which you know not to be entirely correct, but it's close and if you use trickery you can pull it off, then you misrepresent the past accounting as well. Okay so, we all know what will happen - class action lawsuits galore from "minority shareholder" investors (minority shareholders is a legal business term, look it up, it has nothing to do with minorities or skin color) and the SEC will knock on your door the day after such a conference call, interview, or printed annual report.
What a bunch of hypocrisy we have here. If the President of the United States does this in front of congress, and televised to the whole nation and world, it's okay? How is it okay, may I ask? If someone lies to Congress in a testimony, they throw their butts in jail? We have an integrity problem in Washington DC and it needs to stop.
Now then, the good thing about this is that that you can't fool all the people all the time, and now people are on to all this teleprompter showboating. Still, there are folks who believe it all, enough of them in fact to really throw a loop in our system, as these people still vote, and actually believe some of this spewed nonsense and class warfare rhetoric, misrepresentation of truth, and falsification of facts - clouding it all in enuendos, and carefully worded sentences misleading the public.
If this were a business man or someone testifying to congress they'd go to jail for it, yet the president stands before the US Congress, US Citizens, and is televised to the world and somehow that's deemed okay because it's just politics - amazing I say, simply amazing.

What Are Planograms?

A planogram is a visual drawing or diagram that shows where every single product within a retail outlet should be positioned. The optical image, which can be highly complex, acts as a flow chart for each particular merchandise department within a retail outlet. It will highlight on which aisle and on what shelf items are located and in what quantity. Planograms are an important tool throughout the retail industry and a very important system to help maximize sales.
The process of planning and implementing a planogram is highly sophisticated. It requires scientific knowledge and a certain degree of artistic inspiration. The creation of any planogram includes many certain merchandising rules and theories which are based upon optical and market research and leans heavily on the art of psychology.
A planogram is quite often produced before a product reaches the shop floor. This is very useful when a retailer requires multiple store displays and wants them all to have the same look and feel. Often goods manufacturers will release a suggested planogram to accompany their latest product, to mirror how it relates to existing products in the same category.
Product placement and improved sales are two major areas where a well implemented planogram system will work. Other improved considerations should be - maximised selling potential to every square footage of space. A better visual appeal and tighter inventory control, including easier product replenishment for staff.
Planogram designs can come in different forms. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG's) organisations and supermarket chains tend to use text and box based layouts. Their objective is to not only optimise shelf space, but also inventory turns and profit margins. Apparel brands and main-stream retailers focus on overall presentation and use pictorial style planograms that demonstrate the look and feel of the store as well as identifying each product.
Planogram structures can simply display a few items on a shelf up to more detailed systems which include numbered peg holes and shelf notches showing the exact placement of each product. Often the system will differ from one retail premises to another. An individual marketing strategy can be structured to fit the small retail outlet or the larger commercial chain.
The ultimate effectiveness of any planogram setup is always measured by profit and sales volume. A well configured system can significantly increase sales. An area that is highly maximised by a correct product placement is the impulse-buy market.

POS displays are printed media, placed around a retail outlet, which will communicate directly to the consumer. They are specifically designed to capture the customer's attention and direct them towards special and promotional offers. These displays are a crucial part of sales promotion and vital for a businesses' growth.
There are various hot spots throughout any retail outlet and it is here where the POS display is most effective. The checkout area is an obvious placement area as it has probably the most visual traffic. This also has the added bonus of having customers waiting in queues - which is more time to see displays, which will usually include the promotion of impulse buys such as magazines and confectionary. Another popular hotspot will be in and around the entrance to the retail premises. Usually space here is not so limited so ideal for large stands, dump bins and open pallet displays.
There are other sites throughout any store or shop and these places should be identified. Again the checkout area and entrance should be concentrated on, but also highly visible walls and windows. Also POS design plays a big part of any campaign and displays should be highly colourful, fully branded, clear and uncomplicated. These decorative displays can appear in many shapes and sizes including basic shelf edging, display stands, mobiles, posters, banners and even dummy packs. Always the key element in the creative design of any display is to be visually appealing and eye-catching.
The main attributing factor to the success of any POS display is that it is set up at the customer's eye-level - then after direct eye contact with a display - they can then view horizontal and vertical. Often a larger retail outlet will highlight the hot spots by carrying out surveys showing the high to low areas of visual traffic. Again the checkout lane will be an area to fully concentrate on but also the customer service counters.
To compliment POS displays you should always situate products, where possible, on the ends of counters and the front of shelves where the consumer will notice them. Also remember to position products on temporary card displays and pallet displays safely in high traffic areas.
Regardless of the size of your retail outlet POS displays are an essential tool in sales promotion. All retailers can profit from having properly situated displays, informing the public of newly launched products, sales offers and seasonal promotions.
